Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi later Romanian gymnastics coach, discovered Comaneci as she was only seven years old. In 1969, she participated in the Romanian Junior Championships and placed 13th. In 1970, she won the title. The first time she competed in an international event that was an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition for countries in the Communist bloc, she won 3 gold medals. And in 1973 and 1975 she was awarded the All-around Junior Champion. When she competed for the first time at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals as well as one silver. She was the first female ever to successfully perform a backwards double salto while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager she started appearing on touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol ventured into the entertainment industry during her teenage years. She began her career as figure skater performing with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show named Ice Capades. The show featured dramatic ice skating shows.
